Since becoming a Mary Kay consultant, I have been experimenting with not only the Skincare, but also the Makeup. Mary Kay has been around for many years and it is viewed as “Makeup for Older women” but that is not the case. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality and finish of the makeup and it continues to get better. I have been loving a lot of the products including; the Timewise Matte and Luminous foundations, some of the Eyeshadows, Lip products, Mascaras, Blush, Liquid Eyeliner and the New Brow products.
Being a Professional Makeup Artist, I enjoy using a lot of different brands of Makeup. In my kit, I have favorites that range from Drugstore to High end. Some of my favorite High end brands include: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Makeup Forever, Nars and MAC cosmetics. I’m sure you have seen these products at Sephora or have some in your makeup collection. Unfortunately, it can get pretty expensive to replenish these products every couple of months.
Good news is, that I have been noticing a lot of similarities between Mary Kay(more affordable) and High End makeup. I have compared some eyeshadows, brow products and lipsticks. First, we’ll start with Brow Products.
Mary Kay recently released a Volumizing Brow Tint. It gives long-lasting color and microscopic fibers that cling to the hairs to give a visible boost. This product is very comparable to the Benefit Gimme Brow. Gimme Brow cost $24, where Mary Kay Brow Tint cost $14. Notice the similarities in the photo below.
Next, Let’s talk about Lipsticks! Who doesn’t love a good lipstick. One of the best selling lipstick companies, is MAC cosmetics. I personally love MAC lipsticks and I’m sure many of you Ladies own at least one. You can find any finish from Matte, Satin, Lustre(Sheer) etc. The prices range from $18.50 to $21.00. I have found a couple of close dupes for MAC lipsticks, in the Mary Kay line. Mary Kay lipsticks also come in many different finishes, such as, Semi-Shine, Semi-Matte, Sheer, Satin etc. These lipsticks cost $18.00 and are high quality.
Mary Kay Pro’s:
~Lipsticks deliver lasting wear without drying lips.
~Lasting color clarity.
~Optical enhancers deliver a soft-focus effect
~Formula cushions lips for a soft, velvety comfort.

Lastly, I have swatched both MAC and Mary Kay eyeshadows. MAC eyeshadows cost $17 versus Mary Kay eyeshadows which cost $8. They both has very similar color payoff and a buttery texture. Of course, MAC has many other color options than Mary Kay but I really like how you can create a small palette of 6 eyeshadows in the Mary Kay compact and also comes with a mirror. For the price and the quality, I think it is worth it to create a MK compact with the colors you will use daily.
